Money problems, they just keep on coming...
I dont understand how to make money in this game -.- Honestly, the only money i get is from selling sum mob items to npcs, thats it. I cant farm cuz only got faction skills, warrior. I purchased full luxon set, bought new weapon which got me down to 10k. I dont even know if i wanna use the weapon cuz it has fire dmg and best thing to do is to switch to ele as secondary.
So i need money to switch professions, and skills cost 800g each, omg -.- I feel so bad buying skills lol. Im trying make up some build for possible farming but need skills, etc. Everything is expensive and i dont get how to make money... |

I'm sure you can come up with a decent Warrior farming build with factions only skills. Many of them are twins of Prophecies skills anyway. Check out the builds section and see what's there.
Next thing is, learn what items sell for. You can make a lot more by selling things, such as crafting materials, to other players. Weapons mods, especially perfect ones, can bring in a nice chunk of change (even something as mundane as a fiery bow string can get 500 - 1,000g) You don't need to switch professions just because your axe deals fire damage, so no worries there. Check out some of the farming threads to see where folks are making the big bucks. Learn which weapons are rare skinned and sought after (Ventari Sell section of these forums has prices for just about everything) and keep an eye out for any that may drop for you. (I sold an Elemental Sword to the merchant before I found out how much people wer paying for them ) Playing in the higher end areas of the game will also improve your cash flow. |

Farming is the quick way, but nobody says it's the only way. Grab a team and henchies and go kill everything. Pick up every drop and then visit a merchant, should you net you between 1 and 2 plat, as well as a fair chunk of xp. Doing it this way, you improve upon your skills, you don't always have to use the same build (which can get very boring) and you can go to more than a select group of locations (which can also get boring).
If you want a specific farming build, check out the following link. http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Category...farming_builds many of the builds contain suggestions for possible variants which may or may not include campaign specific variants. |

What I did when I was low on cash was grab my 55 Monk and run through some areas.

Factions is fine for farming admitidly I started with around 30k but that was run up to 100k over a short time and all on shing jea island too.
I started farming generally with my ranger just killing everything and selling. Eventually I settled on the naga which freequently dropped naga pelts which were wanted for a mission in kaining center. Each day I played I would farm for a little first then play the main game, once I had the max armor I could save everything. When I reached the right most city of shing jea "zen Dajun" I think its called I started farming seriously. Killing the Bonesnapper turtles and Kappa there are also a couple of oni there. Then on to the dragon creatures around the lake more bonesnaps and kappa then on to the naga. There is a merchant so you can sell anything you want or you can salvage some for materials. Go to the collectors and get more stuff to sell "keeping all the naga pelts to sell to players" Do as much as you can manage the back to zen dajun and repeat. I gritted my teeth and did 3 or 4 runs before playing the game itself. 2 weeks of play gave my my start towards being comfortable money wise. After 3 weeks I had 100k Its boring and repetative but its achievable for a solo character all you need to do is run before dying then come back till you beat the groups bit by bit. Eventiually you can just beat a whole group without too much trouble. You will get a lot of purple and blue items and a few golds which is a nice bonus. I salvaged all the usable runes and made up decent weapons to sell. Takes time but its not that much time and teaches you a lot about what works skill wise for your playing style. |

You can gain money from playing through the game. e.g. Picking up cash drops, getting collectible items and selling them. Also, about the white drops, use an ID kit and ID them too. It does increase the merchant price by a fair bit, and in the end, it all adds up. It's especially easier to do this in the High End areas later in the game since they drop more, better items, and you might get very lucky and get a rare skin drop.
Once you do get the cash and all, I guess you could start 55ing with the Core skills and use Spoil Victor... Only problem with that is without Prophecies you don't have access to Balthazar's Spirit and Essence Bond and they're pretty much the staple skills for that bar. If you're willing to, you could make a new character like an Elementalist and farm vermin with Core+Factions only skills This is the only Factions only build that I could find for farming, sorry. |

Additionally, ANET has good business sense to create drive for you to want to buy the additional editions of the game and thus builds in the problems you speak of to drive you to "need" to buy all the skills. However, you really should be able to play and do just fine with any one continent if you play through the missions. You don't need "the best" of everything to get along fine in game, most stuff is all vain status hype. GL to ya and stay determined. You'll enjoy the challenge as you go much more then the dweebs that wuss out and go looking to buy gold from players. Last edited by shmek; Oct 27, 2007 at 09:21 AM // 09:21.. |

There are some basic easy ways to make money, independently from the more advanced ones (farming etc.):
- identify your white items, they usually improve in sale value more than the cost of the use of the identification kit (which is 100/25=4 gold!); - trade your collectible items to collectors, you can win a lot, e.g. for superior salvage kit; - think of salvaging the rare items that can give you the weapon modifiers or runes that you need; - salvaging some items can give you the material you need for armors and weapons (again, check the gwiki for not salvaging stuff that won't give you what you need); - GWG seling forum for the rare items you're not using (and consider selling un-ID'de items for the ones that are aiming at the wisdom title). Just have some method and you'll put some money aside every tiem you play. No need to focus on making money, play with a little patience. If necessary, you can always replay some areas. (btw always pick up your loot! ) Last edited by Fril Estelin; Oct 27, 2007 at 03:05 PM // 15:05.. |

I don't farm, I just make sure I pic up all my drops and merch them. Easiest way to make money. I generally end up getting at least 5k minimum every time I play(usually about 3 hours), which might not sound like much, but it saves me grind and I usually get what I want within a week or two.
Farming is really only for the impatient... |

Money is really easy to obtain these days, although you unfortunately got the worst campaign with not many good gold drops, since now people want inscribable, in which factions weapons aren't inscribable. I think that if you got nightfall you might be able to make a good amount of money using treasure chest running since you can get 30k+ 20 or so gold drops. If not that then just pick a spellcasting character and play that and make more money till you can support your war. |

I'm always running out of money now. I used to be so careful with my money, not wanting to pay 1k for new skills, etc. But then i just gave that up, whats the point of having it when you dont spend it? I splurged on EotN armour, and Luxon armour for my Necromancer (stupid Monstrous Fangs costing so much)...
Way I make money: -Bring out the 55. Right now with Halloween it's excellent for me when I farm Nebo Terrace/Cursed Lands.... -Do quests. Simple money , gets my character's levels up. EotN quests are great for money. -During special events i sometimes buy items and re-sell them (like with Victory Tokens) |

You don't need to farm if you want to get rich. Doing Hard Mode missions and Vanquishing can get you 3-5K a run, and with a little luck even more.
Also questing in the Eye of the North is pretty profitable, some quests give you 1 Platinum reward, and there's even a few that give you an Onyx Gemstone (worth 5K or so). |

1. Buy what you need when you need it. Resist to the temptation to buy armor early in the game (i.e. use collectors), buy only those skills that you will immediately use (i.e. you can plan out your builds ahead of time), and most importantly - NEVER buy anything from other players until you can afford to do it.
2. Do every single quest you can do. The rewards provide a ton of money (i.e. I'm talking about 50K or more depending on the campaign). Also - try to do easy things solo (without heroes or henchmen). Even though there is loot scaling, the rewards are still double and triple what you would get with a full party. |

By the way, a great way to get cheap and easy money (thanks for the gift Anet!) are the treasures (but only once a month):
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Do_Not_Touch (and, from my experience, it even seems that a lot of the golds you get unlock runes that you don't have) |
